Quick and easy childproofing tips!
Although it can seem overwhelming, with a few helpful tips and guides, it can actually be both quick and easy to make any room in your house safe for a child to play in. You should begin doing this as soon as your child is brought home from the hopsital. First of all, you will want to gather all the gadgets and devices that you wil lneed.
First of all, use covers on electrical outlets and buy latches that go on the inside of cabinet doors so that a child cannot get into them. If you have low furniture like a wood coffee table that has pointed edges, there are soft gaurds you can buy to cover those edges. Get wall anchors to mounts to large pieces of furniture that could tip over. Put a gate at the top of the stairs and another at the bottom. Window guards keep a child from opening the window and crawling out. Take breakable objects off of low tables and shelves. Tie the cords of blinds, curtains and appliances up out of reach. You can purchase nonskid backing to put on the underside of rugs so that the child does not slip. When you are finished, a great idea is to get on the floor of your house and look around. From such an angle, it is easier to see the potted plant they might get into, or the floor lamp that could tip over.
Always remember, though, that despite any childproofing measures you take, the best way to ensure your child's safety at all times is still close supervision. The top of a bottle or a pen without a cap left out can become just as dangerous to a young child as an open electrical socket.
